Penguins
There are 17 species of penguins in the world, and 6 of them are found in the Antarctica. They include Adélies, Chinstraps, Emperors, Gentoos, Macaronis, and Rockhoppers. According to a theory, penguins adapted to the cold as Antarctica moved on southward in continental drift. They developed oily, permeable feathers that cover their body, and they can keep warmth with these feathers and their fat. Not only that, but they have great swimming skills. Typically, they feed on krill and fish. |

Science
Antarctic sciences are very important to the world. It contributes with information about icebergs, oceanography, etc. They also discovered species of animals there since only ones that can endure that climate live there. Auroras, that are natural phenomenons, are also studied there. Some of the popular studies include understanding where, why and when ice sheets lose mass, the history, how life evolved, the universe and space, and challenging environments. |
